If you wonder how ideas are born in EcoIsleta, I will tell you that many are spontaneous and without premeditation…
Some in the kitchen making coffee, others during a work break on the terrace or in the coworking area…
A few days ago, I was talking to Rachel on the terrace, she was telling me that she had gone for a walk to one of the beaches we have near the Coliving.
Specifically to the Confital beach, a perfect natural space to disconnect, walk, or do sports…
Then he showed me some old glasses, very worn, of different colors… and he told me…
–ElConfital is amazing, it’s full of sea glass. I love that beach…
–I didn´t know what to say, thinking, what is she talking about?
–Then she explained to me everything about sea glass, crystals worn by marine erosion that, according to her, were all over the beach in large quantities.
I don’t even know how many hundreds of times I may have been on that beach, I had never realized the existence of those sea glasses or their possible creative uses….
She said… “In 10 minutes, I collected many…” Sea glass is highly valued to make works of art. Then I could see some wonders made with them in Google…
Eco-friendly activity
Suddenly, we were organizing an activity to clean and collect these crystals. We recently did our first cleaning activity…
We also agree to get together at the Coliving to create our works of art, with the collected…
In total, we gathered about 17 people, and we collected a lot of sea glass on the beach. El Confital is full, it was very easy for us to collect them…
Afterwards, we met at the Coliving and split up at the tables on the terrace and in the coworking area to get our creativity out…
And indeed, it was a simple, fun, and creative afternoon creating our works of art with Sea Glass…
A little history of the Confital
You may wonder why this beach has so many sea glasses. The reason is that until the late twentieth century, it was a shanty town.
Our neighborhood has gone through very complicated social situations, one of them was in the areas of substandard housing on our beaches.
During those decades when many neighbors lived on the beach, many bottles, glasses, and dishes must have been broken, and that is why the beach was filled with Sea Glass.

Conversations
Lately, many of the conversations we have in the community are around the local impact of our activities and what we can do to reduce it…
