In recent months we´ve done several Eco-friendly activities in our Coliving.
This is the best part of our community life, having quality time together, and doing some activities with local impact is for us a dream come true…
We feel our community is bringing together people from all around the world, looking forward to doing something positive and meaningful while traveling…
These activities give a lot of meaning to what we do and allow us to reinforce our purpose of working for a more sustainable neighborhood in La Isleta.
We can only say, thank you to all the energy, time, and love many of our community members are bringing to our community…
Better community planning…
For a few months now we have been holding some meetings every few weeks to talk about what activities we would like to do.
We are a small community and most of our members stay for a month, for now, we don´t feel we need to do these meetings weekly…
Our goal is to understand what the preferences of the members that make up the community are at that moment and what things interest them most.
In our case, we are not very fond of having a closed calendar of activities, but rather we prefer to work based on the suggestions of the members.
Our community is small and intimate, colivers do a lot of things together during the week, mostly dinners, going out, or playing Beach volleyball or Beach tennis near the coliving.
We prefer not to fill the calendar with too many activities, rather being a chill community…
Confital Clean Up

So excited and so happy about this eco-friendly activity in our neighborhood, thank you to all the people who take the time to help us…
This activity was open to other Digital Nomads and locals who share our values and we did an amazing job together…
Our first clean-up activity was in the Protected Natural Area of La Isleta, next to the neighborhood, characterized by a set of volcanoes of high natural interest.
Most of our members go after work to this protected area for hiking or running, it’s perfect for charging batteries and balancing daily.
I often walk along the trails, and I know an area with a lot of accumulated garbage.
The activity was a complete success and we managed to make a group of 17 people, who were able to do an impressive job of cleaning. We can only say thank you to all of them…
I had never done it before, but I felt so happy afterward, like doing something valuable…
This idea was proposed by Anh, our first member from Vietnam who suggested the activity in one of our meetings.
Hiking and Barbecue.

In the last months, we went a few times to the top of the island for hiking. I love it…
We had a great time as well as having the opportunity to discover the natural beauty of Gran Canaria.
On several occasions, we only went hiking but one time, we had a barbecue, to have a good time together as well as recover from the walk…
We also saw an amazing sunset, being able to see other islands from our spot… so beautiful…
Discovering Gran Canaria through its trails is always a great Eco-friendly activity for our Coliving and an excellent community activity in nature.
Vegan and Canarian Dinners

Such a great pleasure to do community dinners and share our gastronomy with travelers and community members, feels like a great moment full of energy sharing long conversations after dinners…
We have several vegan dinners, we usually do them every few weeks and we believe in the importance of these dinners.
It is also a way for members to taste the organic vegetables and fruits of Gran Canaria.
These dinners are open and usually, Digital Nomads from the city or even neighbors join. We don´t want to be a bubble and this is one of the best activities to avoid that…
Besides vegan dinners. We have done some traditional and Canarian food dinners so members can enjoy a local experience to understand our identity through our gastronomy.
No to the Thermal Power Plant

EcoIsleta is clearly working for a clean and sustainable neighborhood, and we can´t stand for another attempt by some big corporations to install a facility to produce energy with fossil fuels…
We have participated in and opposed the construction of a Gas Thermal Power Plant in our Port, one kilometer away from our neighborhood.
This facility is intended to be built by a multinational company to provide electricity to the city, the energy source that would be used is Liquefied Natural Gas, which should be imported by big cargo ships.
Gran Canaria already has a strategy to generate its energy through renewable and sustainable sources of clean energy.
Many neighbors have opposed the Power Plant and we went to the streets for a demonstration…
The island’s environmental movement has mobilized to confront this initiative that is so harmful to health.
Idearia, for a social economy…

We also participated in the XVI Social and Solidarity Economy meeting held in Gran Canaria in 2024.
We were fortunate to host several of the participants who came from the mainland for this important meeting that works to create the foundations of a more supportive and equitable economy.
Specifically, we organized an activity to talk about Gentrification, identity, and community in our neighborhood.
The activity was a walk in the streets neighborhood to understand the importance of our identity.
It was not about historical events but an alternative walk to understand what is different about us…
These are a few of the eco-friendly activities we did in our Coliving in the last few months… Our community is open and anybody who shares our values can join our activities…
If you are in the city get in contact with us, send an email to web@ecoisleta.com and we will let you know what are we working on…
