The experts behind the Coliving Awards Impact and Sustainability category have nominated our small coliving for the final of this contest in Amsterdam in September 2023, which is a great recognition for our work. We are so grateful and happy you can even imagine…
This is their feedback about our project-
“Ecoisleta offers a homely experience, fostering a deep bond with the neighborhood. This small-scale coliving space is committed to achieving zero-waste, also with evident efforts in water and energy conservation. They effectively educate residents on composting, veganism, and less-plastic shopping. The refurbishment of an old house and crafting their own furniture highlights their sustainability commitment. Despite its size, Ecoisleta is a interesting example of impactful, sustainable coliving.”
Every year the coliving industry highlights some of the best colivings in the world. They review every project carefully, and to do that we submit a document explaining and answering all the questions and metrics they need to evaluate our Coliving.
In that document we talk about La Isleta neighborhood, we share data about our Zero Waste strategy, tools and measures to ensure sustainable practices, etc…
It was a great exercise to summarize and understand better what we are trying to do and why we are doing this in our neighborhood, sometimes Questions help you to look inside your project in a different way and understand it deeper…
Colivings Nominated
In this edition of the Coliving Awards Impact and Sustainability category, we share the final with another 2 great projects focused on sustainable practices as well, all bigger than us.
AOMA Coliving- It’s a sustainable coliving and coworking in Ericeira Portugal. This project looks amazing in many different ways and should become one of the best sustainable colivings in Europe. It is not yet open at the moment we are writing this post, but the sustainable practices are very clear…
EPISODE- This is a big coliving with many awards behind them, even a Coliving Award in 2021 “Best Operator of the Year category”.
They are in Seoul and run several buildings, big units with amazing design and great facilities… They are also doing some great work in the sustainable field…
Why we apply
Perhaps you are thinking we shouldn´t compete, but collaborate, and I agree with you, we should be working for a sustainable future, sharing, collaborating helping each other rather than competing.
To be honest, we submit our application because we need some help with reaching our potential colivers, for a small unit like EcoIsleta is not easy to get some attention in the middle of this market, and we don’t have a marketing budget, we don’t do any campaigns in Google, but this contest helps us getting some attention, a brand is communication and values, Coliving Awards is one of the best ways to communicate our purpose…
Sustainable colivings or even sustainable practices in colivings are not very common, although very necessary, we are still talking about a tiny portion of the coliving cake.
We hope the best for this Colivings, to be honest, we didn´t win the poll on Linkedin, we were the last ones behind AOMA and EPISODE.
But we got some attention and some people discovered us, so we will be always very grateful to the Coliving Awards team…
