Coliving in Las Canteras

Playa de Las Canteras, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

I love Las Canteras Beach. You have everything you need to enjoy life, that’s why many people look for a coliving in Las Canteras, they fall in love right away with this amazing paradise…

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a city with a lack of free spaces, parks, and green natural areas, but, Thank God, we have Las Canteras, a natural area where we can enjoy our Atlantic Ocean.

Las Canteras beach

For many reasons, this 3 Km beach is considered one of the best urban beaches in the world. It has a unique intratidal space created by natural rock protection called La Barra, which is a fossil beach, where big waves break before reaching the beach. Between La Barra and the sand of the beach, there is a kind of small lake at low tide.

There are many different vibes along the beach, for example, in one corner is Las Cicer an important surf spot in Gran Canaria, on the other corner La Puntilla is a kind of family area, with a fisherman atmosphere, in between you will find boleibol area or the Beach tennis area.

There are many communities of different sports on the beach. Some people gather to do yoga or stretching in the parks next to the beach, but also in the sand. The boleibol community is growing very fast. Also, the surfer community in La Cicer has many schools where they connect with other surfers.

The Avenue of Las Canteras

Along the beach, there is an avenue full of restaurants, bars, and shops. It´s the perfect place to walk at night, drink something, and have dinner. There are many different options to eat, like local or international, cheap or expensive, whatever you like…

But it is also a place to see and understand how international and multicultural is Las Palmas. The amount of people from all continents is amazing.

Having such a place to enjoy the sun during the day and having fun at night is something to consider when you come to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Sunsets in Las Palmas

There is something else that makes the experience of Las Canteras extraordinary, and it is the sunsets…

Some of the best sunsets I´ve ever seen are in Las Canteras, with amazing colors that make you feel deeply connected with nature.

From Las Canteras, you will also be able to see the nearby island of Tenerife and El Teide volcano, the highest mountain in the Canary Islands. All apartments in Las Canteras take advantage of that postal card…

Have fun

At different moments of the year and for various festivities, we celebrate parties, concerts, parades, music, and fireworks in Las Canteras.

On those occasions, a lot of residents on the island come to the beach to enjoy life, drink, and eat something with family or friends.

Keep that in mind for Carnival in February or in June for the local festivity.

There is a web to understand and to be informed about all the activities, daily problems, weather, etc… of Las Canteras Beach, we highly recommend this web, you will find a lot of info, stories, and history, which will help you to better understand all this area and get most of it during your stay.

They also have several webcams, and share info about tides and weather…

Coliving in Las Canteras

A few weeks ago we talked in our blog about some colivings in Las Palmas, most of them are in different parts of the city, like the old town or City Garden.

But in the Las Canteras area, there are not too many. Actually, with a website, we didn’t find any coliving. That doesn’t mean that there is no one in this area…

So far this part of the city is under a strong gentrification process, many buildings are already hotels or apartments but there are many others under construction.

Historically we have been a tourist area since the beginning of the XX century when the British started coming for health reasons to spend some winter weeks or months in our mild weather and healthy sunny beach, but that was before the mass tourists started changing everything in the Canary Islands in the 60…

In the high season demand is higher than offer, having strong consequences on prices. This is affecting negatively locals.

On the other hand, there are quite a lot of coworking spaces in Las Canteras area, and many of them promote the beach and its social life as a way for balancing work and life.

EcoIsleta Coliving is located in La Isleta neighborhood but at the same time only 300 mt from La Puntilla, which means that our Colivers can enjoy the beach.

Remote working can be demanding, to keep productivity at a high level we need time to disconnect from work and to connect with ourselves and nature, in our coliving we recommend walking on the beach or going for a swim after work.

Socializing in the different pubs and bars is easy, like engaging in any sport in the nearby boleibol or beach tennis communities.
