When is High Season for Digital Nomads in Canaries?

Playa de Las Canteras. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Winter. Digital Nomads paradise
Playa de Las Canteras, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

I´ve seen in different platforms and communities, comments like this; “I didn´t know that now is high season for Digital Nomads in Canaries?” “Why is everything booked” “I can´t find anything in the city”

If you don´t plan properly, you won´t be able to find a “shipping container” in the port to stay for a week in Las Palmas…

Canary Islands advantages

The Canary Islands are worldwide famous for

  • Amazing weather all year around, mild temperatures, sunny and few rainy days a year…
  • Landscapes and National Parks
  • Surf
  • Culture
  • “Mojo and Papas arrugadas” this one should be in the first place…

I know the list is not complete at all, but these are some of our advantages when thinking about coming to the Canaries for a few weeks or months…

When mass tourism started in the ’60s, Europeans realized that the Canary Islands were near Europe, with flights taking 5 hours or less. Together with security and weather, turned the Canaries into one of the most important tourist destinations in the world during winter…

Our main “markets” for the last 50 years or more have been mainly the Nordics, Germans, and British.

They still come to sunbathe and enjoy a break from work in our sunny destination, they deserve it, mostly working-class people looking to have a good time with friends or family…

European winter, equal, high season in the Canaries

In Europe, winter is cold, rainy, and cloudy, and that is the moment Europeans want to come to Canarias, when the bad weather arrives in their home country, after October…

On the other hand from October to March, the weather in the Canaries is excellent, mostly sunny, not too rainy, temperatures between 20 to 27 degrees, perfect for many people…

Hotels, apartments, and any type of accommodation including Colivings, are mostly full during those months, demand is crazy high, and prices are higher…

Recommendations for high season- We recommend in high season for digital Nomads in Canaries, planning your trip, at least 1 month in advance when coming from October to March.

Many people go further and book even 6 months in advance, getting better prices, and the right place to stay.

If you don´t plan your trip, then anything could happen, even higher prices, low-quality accommodation more expensive than others better ones.

Disadvantages- Higher prices, crowds in many attractions, beaches full of people… In high season hotels and apartments have higher minimum stays…

Low season

The low season in the Canary Islands is between April and October, but we have a kind of small high season in July and August.

These months the weather is still great, and demand is lower, places are not that busy, and prices are lower too, you don’t need to plan that well in advance, and offers are available in many accommodations…

Advantages- Save money while getting an excellent offer, not only accommodation but culture, activities, restaurants, etc…

If you are trying to avoid tourist crowds, go for it, everything is more peaceful and relaxing… Minimum stays are shorter than high-season

Flights- In low season are cheaper too, good for your budget…

In short, the High season for Digital Nomads in the Canary Islands is between October and March, low season is between April and October…

Digital Nomads and Remote Workers in Las Palmas

Las Palmas city is the main destination in the high season for Digital Nomads and remote workers in the Canary Islands. Coming to the city in the high season, October to March, without planning could be challenging…

Most colivings are full, and share houses too…
