data-block-type=\"core\">In recent months we\u00b4ve done several Eco-friendly activities in our <a href=\"https:\/\/ecoisleta.com\/en\/eco-coliving-la-isleta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coliving<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">This is the best part of our <a href=\"https:\/\/ecoisleta.com\/en\/community\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">community<\/a> life, having quality time together, and doing some activities with local impact is for us a dream come true&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We feel our community is bringing together people from all around the world, looking forward to doing something positive and meaningful while traveling&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">These activities give a lot of <a href=\"https:\/\/ecoisleta.com\/en\/different-coliving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">meaning<\/a> to what we do and allow us to reinforce our <strong><span style=\"color: #1d71b8;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">purpose of working for a more sustainable neighborhood in La Isleta.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We can only say, thank you to all the energy, time, and love many of our community members are bringing to our community&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;background-color: #1d71b8\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Better community planning&#8230;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">For a few months now we have been holding some meetings every few weeks to talk about what activities we would like to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><em>We are a small community and most of our members stay for a month, for now, we don\u00b4t feel we need to do these meetings weekly&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Our goal is to understand what the preferences of the members that make up the community are at that moment and what things interest them most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">In our case, we are not very fond of having a closed calendar of activities, but rather <strong><span style=\"color: #1d71b8;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">we prefer to work based on the suggestions of the members.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><strong><span style=\"color: #1d71b8;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Our community is small and intimate, colivers do a lot of things together during the week, mostly dinners, going out, or playing Beach volleyball or Beach tennis near the coliving.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We prefer not to fill the calendar with too many activities, rather being a chill community&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">So excited and so happy about this eco-friendly activity in our neighborhood, thank you to all the people who take the time to help us&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">This activity was open to other Digital Nomads and locals who share our values and we did an amazing job together&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Our first clean-up activity was in the <a href=\"https:\/\/conocelaisleta.wordpress.com\/2012\/01\/01\/paisaje-natural-protegido-de-la-isleta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Protected Natural Area of La Isleta<\/a>, next to the neighborhood, characterized by a set of volcanoes of high natural interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><strong><span style=\"color: #1d71b8;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Most of our members go after work to this protected area for hiking or running<\/span><\/strong>, it&#8217;s perfect for charging batteries and balancing daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">I often walk along the trails, and I know an area with a lot of accumulated garbage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The activity was a complete success and we managed to make a group of 17 people, who were able to do an impressive job of cleaning. I love it&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We had a great time as well as having the opportunity to discover the natural beauty of Gran Canaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">On several occasions, we only went hiking but one time, <strong><span style=\"color: #1d71b8;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">we had a barbecue<\/span><\/strong>, to have a good time together as well as recover from the walk&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We also saw an amazing sunset, being able to see other islands from our spot&#8230; so beautiful&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Discovering Gran Canaria through its trails is always a great Eco-friendly activity for our Coliving and an excellent community activity in community members, feels like a great moment full of energy sharing long conversations after dinners&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We have several vegan <a href=\"https:\/\/ecoisleta.com\/en\/dinners-coliving-las-palmas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dinners<\/a>, we usually do them every few weeks and we believe in the importance of these dinners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">It is also a way for members to taste the organic vegetables and fruits of Gran Canaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">These dinners are open and usually, <a href=\"https:\/\/ecoisleta.com\/en\/gran-canaria-for-remote-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digital Nomads<\/a> from the city or even neighbors join. We don\u00b4t want to be a bubble and this is one of the best activities to avoid that&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Besides vegan dinners. We have done some traditional and Canarian food dinners so members can enjoy a local experience to understand our identity through our gastronomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-divider data-block-type=\"core\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">EcoIsleta is clearly working for a clean and sustainable neighborhood, and we can\u00b4t stand for another attempt by some big corporations to install a facility to produce energy with fossil fuels&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><strong><span style=\"color: #1d71b8;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">We have participated in and opposed the construction of a Gas Thermal Power Plant<\/span><\/strong> in our Port, one kilometer away from our neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">This facility is intended to be built by a multinational company to provide electricity to the city, the energy source that would be used is Liquefied Natural Gas, which should be imported by big cargo ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Gran Canaria already has a strategy to generate its energy through renewable and sustainable sources of clean energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">Many neighbors have opposed the Power Plant and we went to the streets for a demonstration&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The island&#8217;s environmental movement has mobilized to confront this initiative that is so harmful to health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-divider stk-block-divider stk-block stk-2e451a5\" data-block-id=\"2e451a5\"><style>.stk-2e451a5 hr.stk-block-divider__hr{background:#1d71b8 !important;}<\/style><hr class=\"stk-block-divider__hr\"\/><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" data-block-type=\"core\"><span style=\"color: #1d71b8;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Idearia, for a social economy&#8230;<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-2 href=\"https:\/\/www.economiasolidaria.org\/idearia-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">XVI Social and Solidarity Economy<\/a> meeting held in Gran Canaria in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">We were fortunate to host several of the participants who came from the mainland for this important meeting that works to create the foundations of a more supportive and equitable economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\"><strong><span style=\"color: #1d71b8;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Specifically, we organized an activity to talk about Gentrification, identity, and community in our neighborhood.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">The activity was a walk in the streets neighborhood to understand the importance of our identity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p data-block-type=\"core\">It was not about historical events but an alternative walk to understand what is different about us&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-divider stk-block-divider stk-block stk-2901ca2\" data-block-id=\"2901ca2\"><style>.stk-2901ca2 hr.stk-block-divider__hr{background:#1d71b8 !important;}<\/style><hr
